Trinidad 1.0.9 released

Published by gojko under articles

I just packaged and released trinidad 1.0.9. Trinidad is an in-process test runner for FitNesse(Java) that allows you to execute fitnesse tests without running the server. Some cool things you can do with it are:

  • debug and execute tests from any IDE easily
  • integrate FitNesse tests into your continuous build through JUnit or Maven
  • wrap tests into Spring transactions and roll back automatically to make data driven tests instantly repeatable

Changes in version 1.0.9 are:

  • compatible with FitNesse release 20090709
  • a bugfix for maven plugin (class cast exception on fit.Counts when running a single test)
  • a new maven plugin example test project

Most of the Trinidad code is now in the FitNesse release anyway, but due to a packaging error one key trinidad class was missing from fitnesse release 20090709. Version 1.0.9 fitnesserunner.jar has only that class. From the next release of FitNesse, trinidad will not have a separate release. Maven plugin will still be a separate project in the near future (at least until FitNesse switches to a proper maven build and release process).

For more information, download and usage instructions see http://fitnesse.info/trinidad. You can download the source code from Google Code.

An excellent agile testing experience report

Published by gojko under news

The agile testing evening sessions at Skills Matter are getting better and better. I thoroughly enjoyed yesterday’s session with an experience report given by Nathan Bain and Anand Ramdeo. Anand and Nathan talked about their work at Global Radio focusing on how they implemented agile testing, and the topic turned out to be so thought-provoking that the presentation often turned into a free discussion and the event lasted twice longer than expected. In spite of that, some attendees complained that it was too short. Luckily the local pub is open till much later than Skills Matter so we continued the discussion there. Continue Reading »

Last call for “Agile testing tools and approaches” tomorrow in London

Published by gojko under articles

This is the last call for another excellent agile testing evening in London. Anand Ramdeo and Nathan Bain are doing a talk titled “Agile testing tools and approaches”, sharing their experiences of working as Test Engineers within agile development environments. They will pass on tips they have learned along the way, discussing tools such as Selenium and FitNesse.

The talk will take place in central London (Skills Matter) tomorrow night starting at 6:30.

The event is free, but up-front registration is required for capacity planning. See http://skillsmatter.com/event/agile-testing/agile-testing-tools-and-approaches for more information and to register.

OpenSource .NET Exchange III

Published by gojko under news,presentations

I had a great time yesterday at the Opensource .NET Exchange III. Opensource .NET exchange is a meeting of .NET enthusiasts organised by Skills Matter every six months in London with lots of speakers giving 15 minute talks on different subjects, loosely related to opensource and .NET, with lots of time for socialising over beer and pizza.
