Alt.NET UK society announced

At the Alt.NET UK conference today, Alan Dean announced the foundation of the Alt.NET UK society. The goal of the society is to promote Alt.NET in the UK and in particular this will be a vehicle to organise future Alt.NET UK conferences and other events. Dean and Ian Cooper, co-founder of the society, pointed out that the society is not being formed to hijack or claim ownership of Alt.NET concepts or practices. The constitution of the society is now available on http://altnetuk.com/constitution.pdf.

Individual memberships are now available at 20 GBP per year and will start from the first of October. Members will have the right to vote at the Society AGM but, probably more importantly, individual members will also be offered registration for future conferences before non-members. The funds from memberships will go to support future conferences and related events. At the moment, corporate memberships are not available. Alan Dean said that they are considering those and this will be one of the first topics for members to discuss.
