For in house development I live by three rules:
1) Will this change save us money now or in the near future?
2) Will this change increase sales?
3) Will this change make our product more competitive / attractive to more customers?

Sounds like an interesting discussion, each of these topics are challenges that I wrestle with. I’d like to know more about peoples experiences with actually solving some of these.

Very interesting discussion indeed! I am very curious what the final outcome will be, which of these solutions is actually the most valuable. Are you going to try them out? I’ll make sure to follow the progress, if you can actually get the right metrics, it could be an extremely valuable formula.
